Do I have to shave in Shave Week?
Although we encourage you to shave during Shave Week, you can shave anytime during the year.
Can I donate my hair to be made into a wig?
Please contact Freedom Wigs in Dunedin to get more information about donating your hair.
Can children or young adults shave?
Shaving is a personal choice that should be made by an individual in agreement with parents and whanau.
Can students shave?
Schools are a leading reason for the success of Shave for a Cure. More than 80 schools have participated in Shave to date.
Are there other ways that I can be involved, apart from shaving my head?
Absolutely, you could support another shavee and make a donation, shave or wax your legs, or even dye your hair.
What do I have to do to organise a shave event?
How you plan your Shave event is up to you. Many people have a public event at their work, university, school or a public venue.
Why is it important to list the names of everyone who participates in my event?
So that we can acknowledge and thank all the brave shavees involved in your event, and count them towards our goal of having 10,000 people take part in Shave.
How long does it take to be approved once I register?
Registration is now automatic so jump on and sign up. You will receive an email from LBC letting you know when your page is live.
Can I have my event at home? Or share it with others?
You can shave your hair at home or make a public event of it. Many people like to host a shave event at their local hair salon, school, business or other public venue as a way to invite others to join in and shave raise more funds, share and celebrate their shave. It's up to you.
Finding other shavees
If you are shaving by yourself and don’t have a place to shave go to our Facebook page www.facebook.com/LBFNZ to find others who are shaving in your area. If you are hosting a group shave that is open to the public please post it up on Facebook so that shavees in your community can attend.

Why isn’t my donation showing?
If you donated on the website using a credit card and your donation isn’t showing, please let us know.
If you selected direct credit, your donation will appear on the site once we have received it, either into our bank account (using your reference number) or passed on to us from your shavee.
What is an offline donation?
An “offline” donation is when a supporter directly gives you cash or a cheque (i.e. the donation is NOT made “online” through your shave page).
What is a pledge counter?
You may have seen a section called “my pledges to date” on your page. This is your pledge counter. What this shows are the “non-banked” or offline donations that your donors have “promised” to give you in the form of cash, cheques or direct deposits.
When the pledged donations are banked (from you or your supporters) we will confirm them and update your received sponsorship total. Credit cards donations appear automatically in your confirmed sponsorship total. We hope this will help you better track your fundraising!
I’m an unregistered group member, how do people sponsor me?
Your supporters can visit your group page and make a donation toward the group. If you would like people to be able to directly sponsor you, you will need to set up your own page within the group event. Just head to www.shaveforacure.co.nz/register and select ‘I would like to participate in an existing group event’.
If I have made a donation online, how do I get a receipt?
If you made your donation online using a credit card, a receipt will be automatically emailed to you. If you selected direct credit on the website, once we receive your donation, your receipt will be emailed to you if you provided an email address.
If I have added an offline donation using my event options when I log in, how is this receipted?
When you add an offline donation, please make sure you include the name, address and email details of your supporter and we will email their receipt to them.
Where does the money go?
• LBC receives no government funding
• The dollars raised helps fund our core services such as patient support and research
• We are supported by voluntary donations such as yours, of which we are most appreciative
Do I need to go to BNZ bank to deposit donations or will any bank be okay?
You must go to a BNZ branch to make your donation.
What do I do with the money I collect?
Please either deposit the money into our bank account using your unique shavee number as a reference (this can be found in your welcome email or in your 'My place' when you login) or send us a cheque with your unique shave number on the back. Also, please make sure to let us know if this money includes any offline donations already listed on your page.
How do I qualify to receive a Huffer T?
Register as an individual, raise $500 or more for Shave and receive a free Huffer t-shirt while stocks last! Please note t-shirts are not yet avialable for this year's Shave.
Can I buy a Huffer T?
If you don't want to part with your illustrious lustrous locks, you can purchase a t-shirt for $55 each plus $5 p&p. Just email us at shave@leukaemia.org.nz.

Shave for a Cure is LBC’s national and biggest fundraising campaign. The goal is to get 10,000 people shaving – that’s one shavee for each of the estimated 10,000 New Zealanders living with a blood cancer or condition like leukaemia or lymphoma.
