Logic of interest.
Tuesday 10th Mar- Bald Head in Buddhism: Buddhist monks (both Theravada and Mahayana) often shave their heads as a sign of renunciation, humility, and the abandonment of vanity and worldly ego. It is part of the Pabbajja (going forth), a paramount step in becoming a monk. While traditional iconography sometimes shows the Buddha with a top knot, historical evidence suggests he and his followers were shaven-headed.
- Radical Hebrew Israelites (Israelite):Â These groups are often characterized by specific theological beliefs, including that they are the true descendants of the ancient Israelites, and sometimes hold anti-semitic views, accusing Jews of hijacking this identity. Some extremist sects (e.g., ISUPK) promote ideologies that prioritize dominance, including misogyny and control over members' appearance, and have been known to express anti-Asian sentiment.
- Skinhead/White Supremacy:Â The "skinhead" look refers to shaven heads, which was adopted by a white power subculture in the late 1970s, characterized by racism and sometimes extreme, violent, or xenophobic, and antisemitic, ideologies.
- "Buddhist Supremacy":Â This term does not align with core Buddhist teachings of non-attachment and compassion. However, in Sri Lanka, ultra-nationalist movements (e.g., Bodu Bala Sena) have used a brand of Sinhala-Buddhist nationalism that sometimes conflicts with ethnic harmony.
