My Shave, Their Fight

This cause is deeply personal to me. One of my childhood friends has battled Hodgkin's Lymphoma three separate times and has thankfully now been in remission 15 months. Her strength, resilience and determination through every round of treatment was inspiring.

Cancer has also touched my family. Both my mum and dad have faced their own battles with different forms of cancer. Seeing the toll it takes, not just physically, but emotionally, has strengthened my desire to do something meaningful to support others walking a similar path.

In my work as an Allied Health Assistant, I help patients regain strength, independence, and confidence after illness or life-changing diagnoses. Part of this role involves supporting individuals with cancer as they adapt to physical and cognitive changes. As well as navigating the emotional and practical realities that come with diagnosis and treatment. I witness first hand the resilience, vulnerability and courage it takes to face such an uncertain journey. Walking alongside patients and their families during these moments has inspired me to do something tangible to give back.

Hair loss can be a very visible and emotional part of treatment; often affecting confidence and identity. Choosing to shave my head is a way of standing in solidarity with those who lose their hair through no choice of their own. This is a way of showing that beauty and identity are not measured by hair, but by the courage it takes to continue fighting.

Thank you for being apart of this journey with me.
