Huge news team, I’m shaving my head!
I would be lying if I said that fundraising for a phenomenal cause is just a side benefit for wanting to shave my head for the longest time.
I have grown up around hospices and contrary to belief, they are not sad, dreary places. They are quiet, supportive places where people find solace and peace whilst they receive care at the end of their lives. Therefore, I have grown to understand the quiet strength of support and care. This shave is for them, for the patients that I connected with, sang to, remembered by lighting a candle. For those who will receive crucial help, advocacy, and crucial support through this organization.
I have gone through a long journey with my hair – my friends and family will attest to the years of straightening, chaotic frizz, wrangling, and frustration. I have come to love and cherish it, and whilst I cannot donate my luscious locks as they are dyed, the very act of shaving off my hair is my support.
So please: sponsor me for this cause. A few dollars, or many dollars, I don’t mind (I mind). Plus, if you donate, I might be convinced to let you take a whack at my hair! (Wellington based donors only...)
