In Honour Of
I'm shaving my hair, for my Loved one Sadhanandan (Sadha) Pillay
I am Shaving for a Cure in honour of my father!
In 2020, my father was diagnosed with Hairy-Cell Leukemia and was given five years to live. In July 2025, he passed away.People rarely pass from Hairy-Cell Leukemia; it is from the infections contracted from a lowered immune system. In my father's case, he returned from his sister's funeral in South Africa and was so run down, he needed to be hospitalised. From here, he contracted hospital-grade pneumonia and he spent his final 32 days in hospital.
My father loved his family so fiercely and was the father figure for his grandchildren. He was a strong and independent man who could do anything. He made sure to keep in touch with his extended family all over the world and would help them with anything he could.
People often tell me, I am my father's daughter. I give my all to my friends and family, I am stubborn like him, extremely passionate about causes I believe in and raising awareness for them.
I will be Shaving for a Cure at 1:48pm on Saturday, 4 July 2026. This is the first anniversary of my father's passing.
