I'm shaving my hair for Blood Cancer NZ – and I need your support!

Hi, I'm Ben, and I'm taking part in Shave for a Cure NZ to raise vital funds for Blood Cancer New Zealand..

Since June 2025, I haven't had a haircut, that's over a year of growth. I'm now ready to shave off in solidarity with the thousands of Kiwis battling blood cancers like leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.

Why This Cause Matters

Every year in New Zealand:

• Around 3,000 people are diagnosed with blood cancer.

• Approximately 27,000 Kiwis are currently living with the disease.

• More than 1,000 lives are lost annually, making it the third leading cause of cancer death.

Blood cancers can't be prevented or screened for, so timely diagnosis and access to modern treatment are critical. Hospital care alone costs nearly $209 million a year, while patients and whānau often shoulder huge extra burdens, with many dipping into savings or paying over $100,000 for unfunded medicines.

Recent government funding boosts and a new blood cancer oversight group are positive steps, but more support is needed to close gaps in care, improve access to therapies, and back patients and their whānau.
