Going Bald! (for a cause)
Don't worry I'm not going bald (yet). It's not just an expensive haircut (that isn't all that good-looking to be honest) that the money's needed for. It's for kids just like me who don't get to run about, enjoy the sunshine, or live their life to the fullest.Leukemia (aka cancer in the blood) costs on average $95,000 to treat and diagnose here in New Zealand. That's almost 10x the cost to go to university!Â
I've been lucky that I, or those I love have not been affected by cancer but the possibility terrifies me to this day. Knowing my whanau would be looked after and treated if cancer were to ever happen to anyone I cared about is motivation enough for me to do Shave for a Cure. Cancer isn't picky. But hopefully, it's motivation enough for you to donate, however small.Â
Let's hope that the money (and my hair) grows to help not just me, but everyone who is suffering from cancer.Â
