Hey! I'm Seth Schumacher from Te Paepae O Aotea school in Hawera, South Taranaki. Here's why you should give to the cause!

Cancer is caused when the DNA in your blood cells mutates or changes. Your DNA works like an instruction manual for your cells, telling them how and what to do. Your mutated cells begin to multiply and grow faster than they normally would, and they eventually cause your normal blood cells to become lost in the sea of abnormal cells. Your bone marrow starts producing fewer normal cells, which can cause body functions to work less efficiently, make those affected feel drained of energy, and in severe cases, kill those affected by it. Cancer is on average the second leading cause of death in the world, only behind heart diseases. People affected by cancer suffer daily. It not only affects those with cancer, but also their loved ones, family, and friends. There are treatments for many cancers, including blood cancers, but in many cases, they're often so expensive that many cannot afford to purchase them.

Shaveforacure has given the opportunity to thousands of people to help not only raise awareness, but raise money for blood cancer research and families who have been affected by blood cancer. To help fundraise for Shaveforacure, on September 18th, 2026, I will be completely SHAVING MY HEAD to help the fundraising cause. 

I will go from not having short hair for nearly 5 years, to having no hair whatsoever. 

Spare a couple of bucks to support the research that our medical professionals are tediously working on, and to help support families impacted by cancer.

The after results of shaving my head will be shared here around 18th September. Can't wait to see how this goes ❤️😊🙌
