My Reason-

This year, I’ve decided to take part in Shave for a Cure, and I wanted to share the story behind why this means so much to me and my family.

Last year, our lives changed forever when my mum was diagnosed with cancer.

It shook our entire family to the core. Watching someone you love so much go through something so serious, so suddenly—it’s hard to put into words just how much it affects you. Cancer wasn’t a stranger to our family; it has run through generations of my relatives. But when it hit our home, it became deeply personal.

Thankfully, through the strength of my mum and the incredible care from hospital staff, she was able to overcome it. We are so grateful every single day. But the journey wasn't easy. It showed me—firsthand—how devastating cancer can be. Not just physically, but mentally, emotionally. It doesn’t just impact the person who is sick—it impacts everyone around them.

That’s why I’m doing this.

By shaving my head, I want to raise funds for others who are facing this battle right now. Families just like mine. I want to help ease that burden—whether it’s through funding treatment, supporting mental health, or helping cover the hidden costs that come with cancer.

This isn’t just about fundraising. It’s about raising awareness. Cancer is not something that waits for the “right time.” It can hit anyone, at any time. And I want to use this moment to help more people realise that—and maybe even encourage someone to go get that check-up they’ve been putting off.

To everyone who donates: thank you. Your generosity brings me closer to my goal and helps make a real difference for people who need it most.

And to those who share my posts and help spread the message: thank you, too. Awareness saves lives. You’re part of something bigger than you know.

Together, we can support those in the fight, honour those we’ve lost, and work toward a future where no one has to go through this alone.

Thanks, all, Tyler
